ABOUT
MATT KENNEDY
Fueled by snow and captivated by any landscape it covers, Matt Kennedy is a photographer and video jack-of-all-trades who thrives in the cool-crisp air of winter. Over the past decade, Matt helped keep a close eye on a global network of glacier monitoring time-lapse cameras for the Extreme Ice Survey (a project of renowned photographer James Balog and feature of the critically-acclaimed & Oscar-nominated documentary Chasing Ice). From Greenland to the Antarctic Peninsula, he has installed and maintained remote time-lapse cameras, all the while documenting these beautiful and far-off places with photos, video, and words.
Beyond snow and ice, Matt has worked as a photo assistant in underwater caves (known as cenotes), photographed wildfires across the Western US, explored the lava fields of Kilauea, wading through chest-deep hurricane flood waters, and chased tornados through the Midwestern US. He is a lifelong skier, climber, and mountain biker and finds his most genuine smiles are created by sharing these experiences with the people he loves.
Barreled in the Northwoods of Wisconsin & aged by the hills of Colorado, Matt’s current home is the breezy little mountain town of Nederland. When home, he spends time exploring his backyard with his partner-in-love Ali Vagnini & their full-throttle pup, Hank.
